First victory of the season on Saturday for Alessandro Covi, a special and much sought-after success because he arrived on home roads, in Taino, in the Trofeo Corri per la Mamma and 9th Trofeo Giuseppe Giucolsi a.m. – 4th Coppa dei Laghi Trofeo Almar, Under 23 national race. The Team Colpack’s rider, before moving on to the pro team UAE Team Emirates next year, was so eager to win this long-chased race, and finally he did it with the motivation also of a special dedication. “I really wanted to win this, which is my home race and I want to dedicate it to my 104-year-old grandmother, who died a few weeks ago. Then I also dedicate it to our president Beppe Colleoni”, says Alessandro Covi.
The event was also valid as National Criterium and U23 Lombard regional university championship, the title was awarded to Davide Botta (Team Colpack) from Como, a student of Sports Science. Today, following the race, there was also a special fan for the Team Colpack, the owner of Cinelli Antonio Colombo who was able to enjoy the triumphant day.

The Team Colpack collects another important podium of international level with the Sicilian Paolo Baccio who ranked third in the Gran Premio Industrie del Marmo in Carrara, an international event for Under 23.

It has been a winning weekend also for Team Cinelli Smith and its French new riders Olivier Leroy and Elenore Saraiva, who got 6th in San Francisco at Mission Crit and 2nd at (bar Crit in Berlin.
Olivier, by his side, got a flashing 2nd place in San Francisco and a brilliant victory in Berlin!

A very successful week for Team Colpack.
It has been a beautiful Easter for the Team Colpack,  celebrating a beautiful and important international victory thanks to the coup by Andrea Bagioli in the 12th Trofeo Città di San Vendemiano for Under 23. It is his first victory of the season. He became the protagonist of a solitary attack of over 40 kilometers with which he defeated all the competitor. He arrived at the finish line in San Vendemiano (Treviso) with an advantage of 1’45 ”on the first pursuers.

A couple of days after, they got the 6th victory of the season, again with Paolo Baccio (fourth personal success for the Sicilian rider if we also count the Versilia Cronosquadre) protagonist at the 64th Medaglia d’Oro Frare-De Nardi in Vittorio Veneto (Treviso).
A difficult day with a deadly climate: rain, lots of rain, wind and cold (5°C at the highest point of the circuit). President Beppe Colleoni’s boys have given us determination and heart and have always been protagonists.
“Today was not easy – admits sports director Mirco Lorenzetto – the boys raced as a real team, they went fast and attacked immediately to put their opponents in difficulty. A great victory has come”.
The team also raced today among the pro at the Giro dell’Apennino which ended in Genoa with the victory of Mattia Cattaneo of Androni Sidermec. The best at Colpack was Andrea Bagioli who finished 12th.

During the weekend Team Colpack took part to two important races in Europe. Jalel Duranti, Andrea Toniatti, Andrea Bagioli, Paul Double, Lucio Pierantozzi e Giacomo Garavaglia raced the Circuit des Ardennes International in France, while the Sicilian Paolo Baccio – recent winner at Castiglion Fibocchi – and Alessandro Covi, on Saturday April 13th, took part in the Tour of Flanders Espoirs in Belgium with the Italian national team jersey, retracing sections of the route and sectors in cobblestone rode last Sunday by pro riders.

Weekend results were really nice, Toniatti got 5th in France and the whole team gained a flashing 9th place overall. At the Ronde Covi ended up in a solid 12th position.

Baccio for the win!

Team Colpack returns to success with the Sicilian rider Paolo Baccio who yesterday won the Trofeo Mario Zanchi in Castiglion Fibocchi (Arezzo) in a superb way. The Team Colpack’s rider beat his opponents after a 3-man break and took the third win of the season. He had already won the Versilia time trial with his teammate and the Montecassiano time trial.

 

Very lively and exciting race. First he escaped a 12-manwhich also includes Davide Botta. The break was canceled after sixty kilometers. New four-man attack with Alessandro Covi inside, in turn taken back by the group. Finally, 30 km from the finish line, the decisive break was born before 12 men, starring Baccio, and then left alone in three at the decisive moment. With the Sicilian there were the Polish Arthur Sowinski and Pasquale Abenante. On the final stretch the sicialiano was the strongest and deserved the victory.

 

“A success that will take after a bit of misfortune in the last few races. The right moral to start over and give joy to our president Beppe Colleoni,” commented team manager Antonio Bevilacqua.

Team Colpack is a major player last week in the second stage of the Giro di Sicilia, a pro stage race organized by RCS Sport / La Gazzetta dello Sport. In particular, Andrea Toniatti entered in the five-man break that which has characterized almost the entire day. He remained ahead for more than 210 kilometers, until the group went to pick them up eight kilometers from the finish line. Epilogue to the sprint and victory of Manuel Belletti. Toniatti has also risen to seventh place in the general classification, 14 seconds behind the leader.
