Welcome to “Shop Talk” #1: in which we take you through the technical characteristics of our bikes, much the same way as a shopowner would do, but with a few extra details you can only get here in Milan!

First up is our King Zydeco 2023: one of the founding “members” of the European carbon fiber gravel scene.
The Zydeco King is known for its distinctive chain stays, handling and various endurance race adventures, but today we want to talk about the true engineering heart of the frame: its bowed top tube and the continuous section thus created between seat stays and top tube, allowing for industry leading comfort.

Before the Pressure there was the… Superstar!

On a recent visit to the Team Colpack-Ballan CSB service course in Bergamo we rediscovered this beauty proudly hung from the wall: Ayuso Juan’s 2021 Baby Giro-winning “peso piuma” edition of one our most beloved bikes of recent years, the Superstar.

Owners of the Superstar (and Team Colpack riders) will tell you that what they love most about the Superstar is its superlative ride quality, a combination of an astute understanding of carbon fiber layups (note how the tangent lines joining the top and down tubes to the head tube allow for the carbon fiber to remain completely straight thus offering the maximal weight-to-stiffness ratio), Italian “Grand Tour” geometry (72,5° HT and 407mm C/S), and meticulous manufacturing quality.

Early 2000s “Rasta” Original Cork Ribbon Bar Tape

This month, in our feature dedicated to rare, unusual, neglected or just plain beautiful pieces of Cinelli history that we have found for sale on the internet over the last month we have chosen to highlight an early 2000s Original Cork Ribbon Bar Tape in “Rasta” colours, originally issued as part of a “countries of the world” pack series including the legendary stars and stripes screenprinted tape…

Why did we chose this bar tape for our eBay Find of the Month? Because we’ve always loved the colour and were sad when it went out of production (it looks amazing on glossy black bikes with minimal graphics), because we miss the days when everybody wanted to put the craziest possible bar tape on their bikes (see our Zebra tape, still in production, or the 7-colour splash tapes made famous by Chiapucci and others) and because the perfectly intact packaging is itself something of a work of art!

This little piece of Cinelli and Italian bike history is available to purchase on ebay from the account of local North Italian collector Gabriele Tocchio who, in his own words, explains, simply “I only sell what I like”.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY Hugo Foulon!

We are pleased to announce that young French cyclist Hugo Foulon will be riding Cinelli in 2023.
Hugo is the current reigning Rad Race fixed gear crit world champion as well as quickly rising up the ranks of the European gravel racing scene, having qualified for and competed in the first UCI Gravel World Championhips in Veneto.

Hugo will be riding our Pressure, King Zydeco and – of course – Vigorelli models. Stay tuned for more info on his race calendar and objectives for the season!
