Team Cinelli Chrome @ RHC Barcelona N.5

By 8 September 2017 No Comments

August has already passed, and London pouring rain is just a memory.
When Team Cinelli Chrome landed in Barcelona for Red Hook Crit last weekend, the forecast weren’t that good. But in the end everything worked out for the best, and not just for the weather.
The riders arrive in town on Friday looking extremely focused.
Barcelona is a turning point for the whole season: Davide Viganò is second in the general standings, just 3 points below the first with two races to go, the Spanish stage on Saturday and the Series finale in Milan, on October 14th. It’s clear that if something goes wrong in Barcelona the situation in Milan can be critical.
However our boys are not scared, they know what to do and how to do it.

Saturday starts with the qualifying heats. The course is different from last year, slower and more technical.
Viganò easily gets into the superpole, as well as Ravaioli and Bravini.
Unfortunately Moser slips away in a very difficult turning while leading his qualifying group. No serious injuries for Ignazio, but he cannot take part to the final.
Superpole goes smooth, the main race arrives.

The speed is ridiculously high since the early laps, only the best can stay in the pack.
All the riders are side by side when a crush at the last airpin with 2 laps to go involves some of the riders in the front, including the Series leader.
In the last lap Vaan Eerd tries to breakaway, but Fortin and Viganò rapidly close the gap. At the last corner the Dutchman manages to get the inside line and sprints over Viganò, who gets a consistent 2nd place earning enough points to become the new Series leader with a 13 points advantage over the second.

The appointment for the Series finale is October 14th in Milan, at the historical Bovisa course. For the occasion Viganò will be wearing the red Series leader jersey, aware that he will have to save his advantage till the end of the race.
Congratulations Davide for the smart racing and the great consistency of results. The Series leadership does not come by chance, it’s the outcome of the dedication and the passion of a supremely talented athlete.
Many congratulations also to all the Team Cinelli Chrome riders for everything they have done and will do to help Viganò.

A huge shout out to all the Team fans worldwide and to the sponsors for their endless support: Chrome IndustriesSantini SMSSmith OpticsFull Speed AheadDMT,KryptoniteAstuteMVSMichelinHedDeporvillageColumbus e Wingedstore
